Jaguar Programming DIY Question

Jaguar Programming DIY Question
I need a direct answer. I have used the search function and have an idea of which programs for what year etc.
I have a 2002 Jaguar X-Type and I assume I need to use the Ford/Mazda/Jaguar IDS software with a VCM II pass thru? Virtual Machine on a laptop to use Windows 7 or earlier for the IDS software to work?
I just want a direct answer so I can buy the correct stuff the first time. So far I have a laptop with VM installed and just need the proper download of the program.
Is there a download of the IDS floating around the internet? Which cable is recommended for a pre-2005?

Very long thread but worth reading every bit of it. After initial it has lots of "what to buy", "what I bought that works", etc.
I still think the safest mongoose (NOT CLONE MANgoose) from Drew Technologies is the one to own.

You must use an ORIGINAL VCM from the mid to late 2000s.
IDS was used up until 2009 (IDS 118.5)and then SDD119 was introduced.

Is there another option? I cannot find an original VCM. Is the Mongoose Pro able to do the job as well? How about the V130 kit SDD? https://www.britishdiagnostics.co.uk/collections/all

Hi folks, been absent for a bit nonetheless. I wanted to chime in for @Gophat and go over my setup, which was borne out of all the info on this site.
1 - Oracle Virtual Box - My current laptop is a 64-bit running windows 11
2 - SDD v130 virtual machine image available by a google drive download
3 - Full chip VCM2 diagnostic scanner ( Ford Rotunda )
I don't know why the majority say it won't work. I've successfully reprogrammed ECM without issue and am able to run all the test on SDD. It turns out that the seller I purchased from manufactured the same piece for a known Ford-approved vendor. I know this because I'm a developer working on developing open-source vehicle diagnostic and communicated with the seller regarding drivers for their machine, which they could not provide for said reasons—nonetheless, the seller-provided IDS v101, which I never used.
Through endless hours of researching for drivers, I came across the Ford VCM ver 1.9, which I copied over to my virtual machine and installed so SDD could communicate with it. Fact is, here is my latest screenshot from my most recent scan.
The lower right-hand corner shows that VCM 2 is connected.
I hope this helps, @Gophat. If you'd like more details, you can shoot me a message.

I finally fixed my car, I know it's been awhile but wanted to update anyway. I used v130 SDD Virtual Machine Windows XP and a Mongoose Pro. My car connected and I ran the IMMO Setup and now the Instrument Cluster and ECM are talking. Anybody that might need these files, I literally found them online with a search. I feel dumb but with patience the problem was fixed. I paid locksmiths and even had several ICMs cloned lol. I'm happy regardless, love this car.
