Smile Just saying hello to all..

Hi Guys,
Just a short message really to introduce myself and my history..
I have been on here for a few months but initially had an XJ8 - absolutely loved it, but a hose went and took the engine to beyond affordable repair. Broke my heart to lose it, and bought a Vauxhall Vectra to keep myself on the road.. *but* as I have discovered once you have had a Jag you can no longer live without one.. and am now the proud owner of an X-Type 2.5 2002 with 85,000 on the clock. All seems to be in good order with it - much lower spec than the XJ8 but despite missing all the leather, full climate control etc I had :-(, this is a *gorgeous* car - no rust, only one previous owner, bodywork all good, metalic dark blue, and full service history - the plan (as usual) is to keep this Jag for life :-) and I hope I can now be active in this x-type forum as I get the hang of things :-)
All the best
Steve

Just to update - settling into the X-Type well.. it grips with 4 wheel drive in a lot of places the XJ8 didn't and despite the smaller engine pulls really well when needed. This is a car that is definately growing on me :-)

Welcome to this friendly Forum from another Steve - there has been much speculation as to why we're in the majority here but it is obvious to me that Steve's simply have superior taste.
Your car section is here X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
and there's a UK member section here UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Ahoy & welcome!

How is the X-Type after the XJ8? Is it noisier inside?

They are very different cats :-) After all my 'normal' cars I found the XJ8 was almost silent inside except for the Jaguar growl when you put your foot down, and it was like a comfortable armchair in front of the fire - perfect for long distance and those were the things I loved about it, the X-type feels much more peppy round town, is almost as quiet inside but not so suited for long distance. The wife loves this one as the fuel consumption is better, and I love it because of the styling, I still get the Jaguar growl, and whilst it is not as luxurious as the XJ8 it gives a superb ride, grips (so far) in so many places that the XJ8 needed good driving to grip, and the styling has very much grown on me.

Steve, I started out here asking questions and starting threads left and right and now I try to help out anyone I can with answers! I still need help on some things, but I'm sure you'll catch on quickly to the common problems associated with the xtype and the simple remedies for these problems.
