Well I just got back from the dealer to check out the CEL I got on Saturday. It turned out to be:
1) Intake air control valve/seal-lower
2) Intake air control valve/seal-upper

All fixed under warranty

They also told me that there is a new recall out. The notices should be coming in the mail soon but since I was in there they took care of it.
1) 869960: Reflash ECM and TCM

So look out for this recall on your X-Type.

And while I was in there I needed new wiper blades and brake booster ck valve.. The only things I paid for today for a grand total of $153

They washed it for me too.. And it needed it since it was dirty from the snow.. Great Neck Jaguar servuce department is A+ in my book..

 

What years does this recall affect? I'm curious as I bought my car second hand and doubt that I will receive a recall notice. Did a quick search on the net and didn't see anything about it. The one thing that I did find only talks about the 02 and 03 X-types (post was from 2003) and seems that it has been a problem hanging out there for a long time on the first run cars.

 

He didnt specify years.. All he said is that there is a new recall (just came out)on the x-type and people should start to see the notices in the mail. Since I was there they took care of it for me by reflashing the ECU and TCM..

They also adjusted my parking brake since there was some slack in it. Its perfect now

Here's the skinny.

'04 X-Type VINs D55322-E19613 reflash ECM only.

'05-'07 X-Type VINs E20262-E99999 and J00001-J28328 reflash ECM and TCM.

The purpose is OBDII compliance.

 

Mine VIN is D15*** and it's an 03
