My leaper fell off my car agian! All I have from what fell off is the spring and the leaper. Is there a replacement kit I can buy or what do I do?

 

That's very unfortunate. There are indeeda couple of options for you though, you can go to your local dealership (bring your own lube, they will not furnish any) and prepare for a HUGE bill just for the part to let you install it yourself.

Or you could search ebay, they are on there from time to time, and you will *usually* still end up paying over $100, and installing it yourself.

Or, my last and newest piece of info/advice, They make a small disk shaped "Growler" emblem, that one of our members showed us a few weeks ago, for the people that keep either getting them stolen or knocked off. I believe they might come in a few colors and install over the existing hole where the leaper base mounted, however in my honest opinion, The X isn't as sexy without my gaurdian puss leaping and growling at all the uglier cars on the road, but that is just my opinion. This option is ALOT cheaper, and not as wanted by crooks. and it looks just like the Growler emblemon thecenter of the steering wheel (on my steering wheel anyway, others may be different)

Thanks for the input. I really am just looking for what kind of things I can use to attach the leaper back on to the hood of my car.

 

If you still have the anchor at the tip of the wire you can simply twist it around the spring and the anchor will catch the wire as you loop through it and hold by the tension of the spring pulling back against it.

 

No I dont have it. All I still have is the leaper and the spring. Anybody?

3M Emblem and Trim adheasive if you are going to "glue" it back on.
Not sure that is the best way to go.

Seriously, if you have a slavage yard around you, call them or go visit to see if you can find a wrecked Jag and find if it has a the Leaper still..if nothing else Ken (ken@britishparts.com)might be able to get you one, or even Ebay.

 

Thats weird. It just fell off, wow. Sorry I dont have an answer to this but I am curious as to how you put it back on the first time.

 

I have the flat emblem with the Jag face in the middle. I like it much better than the leaper because it was a helluva lot better than spending another $150+ on a leaper.

They're on ebay for $20. That'd be my suggestion.

 

I just used the 3m crazy glue. It worked perfectly

 

Just be advised, that super glue will not hold up if it gets wet..
