Default main driveshaft

I have a 07 x type that i am rebuilding the drive shaft on. My question is if there is anything special about the universal joint in the middle next to the carier bearing? Or can i just press it our and a new one in? I dont see any kind of retaining clips holding it in other than some little nubs around the outside of the cap tops. Any advise welcomed, Thank you

you are asking, if you can press the old uni-joint in the middle ouT (out with t!) and replace it...
All I can tell you that I removed my prop-shaft (I prefer to call it propeller shaft, as the drive shaft goes in my opinion to the wheels) on the X-Type by placing full 6L canisters of coolant under the car, so that I rest the prop-shaft on there while loosing the other fixing points. It's more elegant than letting it drop onto the concrete...

When I had it removed I did not take a closer look, if the kind of uni-joint used there, is replaceable. I would imagine that if you find replacement parts meant for the X-Type prop-shaft, you have a chance.

But what I can also tell you: It is possible to buy replacement parts for the uni-joint of the prop-shaft of my van, yet, it is not possible to swap them, because there are different kinds of prop-shafts for my van, and the one for my van (short wheel base) has "staked" uni-joints and those are not replaceable.

I am just hoping that the prop-shaft of the X-Type does not have "staked" uni-joints.

It does. The joint is not intended to be replaceable.
