Default Manual VS Auto on a 02 X-Type

I have a auto. should I spend 1700$ to get it fixed or put a manual in at my schools shop with lifts and tools. I love the idea on no torque converter or computer shifts but how unreal is the idea of this swap? Also really wondering if any techs knew big diffrences, like would I need a different starter?

You would have to change a lot more then simply the gearbox. You also need a clutch pedal with master cylinder, different brake pedal, a new brake fluid reservoir, a new shifter with cables and ecu reprogrammed for manual transmission too.

I know I have a list with prices, I mite think about going to a scrap yard and getting all the parts from one donor car, im really starting to be on the side of a manual and ive already done a lot to the car, I was wondering if anyones done it or how the manual X-Type does.
