Default Melted H1 connector

Hi all,

I have a problem with one of my headlights. On the driver's side my headlight socket is melted. This is the place were the bulb slots into. The bulb seems to be melted stuck to the socket. I cant seem to pull the bulb out. I thought it would be as easy as cutting the wires and soldering on a new socket but I cant find a new 2 wire socket. I bought this

Jaguar XJ XType Headlight Bulb H1 448 Holder Connector Alternative Grip Loom x1 | eBay

However I'm unsure were the 2nd wire goes, would it be earthed to the body of the car just?

I have read the below thread and it was quite helpful. I also have no interest in getting HID's. I have to fix the headlight adjusters and clean my washer jet bottle and am hoping to get it all done over this weekend. At the moment I'm driving with one main beam and it's not great. I have only ever used quality bulbs of the right rating. I think the bulb in it now is nightbreaker.

Any help would be appreciated.
