Default Mina Gallery Exhaust -Delete

I've looked through everything I could find here on exhaust systems for the X, but haven't found anybody who's done Mina Gallery's delete exhaust, so I thought I should ask.

Has anyone installed, or have any personal experience with Mina's exhaust for the X-type?

I'm particularly interested in the sound quality, and loudness of the system installed.

I don't want anything that says.. "hey there look at me!". More along the lines of a nice european tone that gets aggressive above 3000 rpm.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hi Paulc732,

I appreciate the link, but I've been through YouTube, and the problem is there are lots of Mina's performance mufflers, which sound pretty nice, but none, that I've been able to find, about Mina's "delete" exhaust for the x-type, .

Chris tells me that from his experience the 'delete" is about 10% louder than the full on mufflers, and advises not to remove the resonator. I've read of a member who has had Mina's mufflers for three, or fours years and is very happy, but I believe he removed the resonator, I'm not sure, I'll have to try and find him.

Hobbs, I have only done the Mina muffler kit, not the delete kit. The install was very straight forward and easy to accomplish (I did it in my driveway). I will advise that having a reciprocating saw is going to be well worth the effort to find one if you don't have one already. This will allow for a single cut just upstream of the muffler vice having to try and get a hacksaw or other tool to make the cut.

As for loudness, no help there. I would suspect that you are going to find that at idle, it will be slightly louder, but when you put your foot into it, it is going to get dramatically louder. How much, can't say.

Thermo, Thanks for the input. I've heard an x with straight pipes, no resonator, or mufflers, and that was too loud for my tastes. Chris says that leaving the resonator in place keeps the volume down enough so that it sounds like your mufflers without the resonator. When you installed yours did you remove the resonator?

hobbs, we left the resonator in. We made 2 cuts (1 on each side) just upstream of the muffler. This allowed the Mina mufflers to slide over the factory piping and get clamped into place.

I would say to install the kit and make a cut say 1" away from the upstream muffler weld. That way, if the exhaust is too loud for you with the factory resonator still installed, you can take the factory mufflers to a muffler shop and for say $100, they will weld the factory mufflers back into place.

That's a good idea, but quite frankly from what I've found in researching the idea of a complete delete, I'm now thinking of just putting the Mina mufflers on, possibly deleting the resonator.

Thanks for your input.

The same cut will be what you need for the muffler system. That will allow everything to line up like you need.
