Default More questions!

ok... new first time X Type owner... Be patient with me...

1. Whenever I lift off the brake theres an audible click from behind the dash somewhere. It this normal?

2. I had a few new tires and the guys at Good Year said my rear brake rotors were worn beyond tolerances. Should I fork out for Jag rotors, or are there some good after market rotors I can get?

Thats it for today. I'm sure I'll have some more soon!

Jeff

Jeff, look on e-bay and find some rotors from "Brakemotive". They are cross drilled/slotted rotors for the X-Type along with ceramic pads. Most members have been picking them up for around $200 for all 4 wheels. You will more than likely pay that just going to a dealership for the 2 rear rotors. When it comes to stopping, I have the Brakemotive setup and I can clear the seats of anything on them even doing a moderate braking. If I slam on the brakes, I feel like the car is going to dig the front bumper into the ground and flip over. It stops better than the factory system did.

As for your clicking issue, can not help you there. I can not say that I have heard my car do a click while braking. But then, I normally have the stereo on, so, noises like that I would completely miss.

The click is usually the solenoid in the transmission lock out (and located within the J-Gate). You have to have your foot on the brake pedal to move from park. On some cars (mine included), the system has screwed up and the damn thing clicks everytime you use the middle pedal!

I'm guessing a $2 part that needs to be soldered into the J-Gate...

Regards
