Exclamation My car is dead

Today I was driving and there was a slight hesitation and loss of power and a second later the power came back with a big puff of black smoke.... I thought it might be the egr playing up a bit but an hour late I lost all acceleration and had to pull in , now my car won't accelerate and even if I get it to barely move it cuts out completely.... My injectors are bad too , all 4 could do with a change... Also when I put the accelerator down to take off I could hear a strange scrape type noise... Does anyone know how bad this problem is? Is it even worth fixing

Try and get the fault codes read; at least it will give you a starting point.
How do you know that your injectors are bad?

i got a diagnostic test done and no fault codes came up.
I know they are bad because i had a leak test done and all of them failed pretty badly.

it looks like now i either get my injectors refurbished or ill have to get 4 brand new ones, the injectors are so bad now the car is undrivable. if i attempted to drive if it actually moved then a huge cloud of smoke comes out. this is from the unburnt diesel

one of the problems with machines is that they tend not to work as expected with broken parts

no matter how hard i try to mow the grass...that damned mower insists i use a sharp blade!

Has anyone tested the pump pressure and checked the pump timing?

You might also post your question on the UK/Eire forum as most members here are from North America. Jaguar never sold a diesel variant of the X400 in North America.

The pump is fine and has been tested and the fuel is free from any metal.

I was checking transmission fluid level (not a Jaguar) and heard scrape noise. I used my "X-ray superman vision" and decided that it was camshaft bearing going bad. ( V8 pushrod engine). I added 1 pint of ATF-3, noise stopped in 20 sec., I drove about 100 miles to wherever I was going and then changed oil. I believe oil delivery hole was clogged and ATF fixed it. I have to admit, oil was pretty dirty.
