Default Need help engine codes

Hi I'm new to jf and I got a 2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 and the codes that I need help with are:

P0300
P0301-306
P1313
P1314
P1316
P0420
P0430

And on the dash it says gear box fault, cruise control not available and the check engine light is on,and recently I changed the spark plugs, and when the engine is cold it shakes and the lights start to blink so I would appreciate any help I could get.

Welcome to the forum Elias Jr,

I've copied this question from your Intro to X-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Could be a failing battery. They often start the car but flag codes and give trouble.

Elias, were these codes present before or after you changed the plugs? If it was before, clear all the codes and see what comes back. Right now it sounds like you have misfires in all the cylinders. Did you use the correct plugs and have them gapped correctly? Could be some bad coils as well. If the problem is bad enough for the light to be flashing you are doing damage to the catalytic converters. Maybe double check your connections. Seems hard to believe you would have misfires in all the cylinders at the same time.

Attached is a list of all the P codes. If the cruise control not available message is showing up you might have a wheel speed sensor that is bad. That would be a C code. I have attached that list as well.

I wouldn't advise driving it until you get those misfires sorted. Good luck.

I have been trying to sort out some mis-firing on my own 2.5 V6 X-type recently, so I've got quite familiar with most of these codes.

P0300 is just a general-purpose misfire code.
P0301 is a misfire on cylinder number 1
P0306 is a misfire on cylinder number 6
P1313 is a misfire on bank 1
P1314 is a misfire on bank 2
P1316 is bad emissions from bank 2
P0420 is bad cat efficiency on bank 1
P0430 is bad cat efficiency on bank 2

So, basically, your car seems to be misfiring on all 6 cylinders which is causing bad emissions and stopping the catalytic converters from working properly.
If your 'check engine' light is flashing then it means that the ECU has decided to reduce engine performance in an attempt to minimise damage from the faults - this is known as 'limp' or 'limp home' mode. Driving with the light flashing and the car misfiring could lead to cat damage.

Because you are getting misfires on all cylinders, then I would suggest you start check things which are common to all the cylinders. Particularly, the intake tract from air filter to throttle body and also the engine breather hose. Inspect them carefully for damage - you can wrap any splits with gaffer tape as a temporary measure to see if things improve. Next port-of-call would be the 'MAF' - the thingy in the intake tract which measures air flow mass. Do also make sure that the electrical connector to this 'MAF' thing is in good order with no corrosion or damaged wires. Likewise with the connector to the electric throttle.
Also, try to equip yourself with an electronic copy of the proper workshop manual for the car as it gives good advice on fault-finding.
Perhaps you could try the above and post back to the forum with your results ? Best of luck.
