cmoney23, welcome to the Forums. I think you will find a lot of useful information here. We are a lively bunch and some of us have a quirky sense of humor.
The X-Type is a great car if driven properly. If you don't, it can be a very expensive car to drive. With that being said, it sounds like you have some big plans for the car. I wish you all the luck. But, please keep in mind that the transfer case is the weak link with this car. So, if you are looking to drive it sporty and go light to light with it, you will not have a lot of money for upgrades to the car as you will be spending a lot of that money on a new transfer case. You drive sensibly, the transfer case will outlast the car.
As for the larger rims, do some looking around. Some of the members have been down the road that you are looking at traveling and they will tell you all the pitfalls that you are going to experience. In short, as long as you keep the overall tire diameter close to what the stock size is, you will not have issues. But you start pushing the limits, it is going to get expensive really fast. From my own personal experience, 225/45R17's is about all that the car will handle without modifying anything else. So, keep the same tread width and diameter and you will be golden.
