Unhappy New to Jaguar and of course i get Engine Knock sounds

Hello

Just bought a 04 2.0 x-type (manual transmission). Earlier today i thought id register to this forum, little did i knew that i was going to have a problem the same day. The damn car has begun to knock.
It starts doing it when the oil gets hot, which would indicate that there is something with the oli vicsosity. The sound appears between 2500-3500 rpm then dissapears. My normal guess would other that of viscosity be a valve bearing, which in turn also would be strange. As i understand it the engine in my car is a ford v6 in disguise and the ford v6 engine is actually a very reliable engine.

I love the car but im somewhat discuraged now, besides the engine knocks i have pretty high transmission sound (but i know how to fix that thanks to you guys).

To do list for tomorrow.

1. Change oil
2. Since its friday tomorrow

There is an old post which pretty much describes the same problem.

Any input will be highly appreciated

Usually with these motors it's bad oil (incorrect oil) Besides the oil pan not a lot of issues. Although how the previous owner took care of it could always be a factor.

Your on the right track with doing an oil change first. Start with cheap

Here's another post that you might want to take a look at.https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-rattle-12475/

If at all possible get a (good) sound clip of the noise and put it on here. There's definitely members here that can point you in the right direction if changing oil doesn't resolve the issue.

Thumbs down Changed oil NOT th e solution

I decided to change oil (and filter) to try to sort the sound out, Said and done 100 pound investment.
I was surprised how easy it is to do stuff on this car, jacked it up and changed filter and oil. Filter is despite what many says very accessible and was easy to change. Took about 30 minutes.

Did it help..... well somewhat. Still sounds like an old sewing machine at 2500-3500 rpm , but a bit less than before......
What is this ?

Im not giving up its going to be silent if its the last thing i do

as promised in previous post im now in my couch with a beer pondering my next move.

Input is allways welcome, have a great evening
