Cool New LED Project done: Illuminated Mina Grille

Hey guys just thought I would share the newest LED project I just finished. After looking on the forums and seeing guys placing LEDs behind the trunk plinth, I went to autozone and bought 2 of their Alpena Diamondlights (super bright white LEDs). I was messing around with the extra set and thought it would be a cool idea to place it behind my mesh grille. I loved the look so much I ended up finishing it that same night I was messing around with the lights.

Very easy to install using 3M double sided tape, and just piggybacked the lights to the parking lights. Very bright and have already gotten complements on the first day! Makes my X type dramatic even at night, and matches nicely with all of my other LEDs. Plus it serves as an underhood light!

Looks good! In the second pic you posted, are your Hi-beams on, or, is that the light from the Alpena Diamondlights (super bright white LEDs) ?

Looks great. Thanks to you we are all going to give AutoZone some of our cash... I am going to do that this week. I am also looking to add daytime running lights somewhere. I will post pictures when done.

Thanks,
The Dr.

Those are actually just my LED parking lights that I bought off of ebay. They are really bright and have a crisp, white look to them. My high beams are still regular halogens, so in all of these pics highs are off.

So the light strips come with 3M tape already on the other side, so pretty much it is just peel and stick. Here are the pics of where to stick them. TIP: If you have a hard time having the lights stick to the back of the grille, wipe it down with some rubbing alcohol or acetone to thoroughly clean.

I actually live in California, but added the Euro plates as an accessory. I get lot's of compliments because of it actually.

Yeah it is and the Rozzers will be feeling your collar for sure, especially if you light up your front grille like a council house at Christmas!

Really cool! It's interesting to see the different response you get on the X type forum. When I modify either my XF or XK8, all these codgers beat me up!! You guys have a lot more fun!! I miss my X type!! Lol
And I LOVE me some LED strips!!! You should light your growler badge like I did on my XF rear boot. It's red led puck light.

Lol yup I've noticed that attitude whenever I hang out on that side of the forum. I'm truly in love with this LED project as more premium automakers are starting to follow along, like Mercedes with their light up star on the front grill.

I definitely want to do the light up button but your's looks so much cooler because it is red!
