Newbie 02 X Owner-maybe
Hi all I just found this forum, it looks like a lot of good info. I may be picking up an 02 x-type, It's a nice car, love the wh/tan combo. Are most of you happy with the X?
I am already looking for wheels, tires and a nice ground effects kit.
Any advice is appreciated
My first thought on the car was it has a little class to it!! Interior very nice (although I have seen a few posts about trouble areas) The 3.0 engine has more pep than my 91 sl 300 (soon to be traded for the X)
I would like links to some sites for custom wheels, body kit etc.
Thanks and I look forward to being active on this forum, I'll need all the help and advice I can get
Peace

RE: Newbie 02 X Owner-maybe
Hey Run, welcome to the forum. First off wheels are limited as far as selection goes...the size is a pain compared to many american cars that are pretty easy to find rims for. The rims on our x's are the same as taurus and lincoln ls's. The specifics are 5x108 or 5x4.25. Offset of +38. The most popular size of rim for these are 18's. 19's fit but dont plan on riding with more than two people and some speakers in the trunk, as well as having only a rubber band to protect the rim. I am having a problem with one thing though, you stated that the jag has some class to it, I was curious if you could elaborate. Coming from that 91 sl 300 the jag has alot more class to it. This car screams for every single person to look at it and they do! If you still think that this jag doesn't have enough class for you you might want to seek elsewhere. If you are looking for a car to rice up I'd look elsewhere. The body kits you'll find for the x's are more aerodynamic and sleek than ugly and coffe can carish. If you are looking for the right amount of sophistication and elegance while demanding respect you have found the right car for you. I'd imagine that you aren't worried about the car being reliable seeing as you are coming from a MB. Just drive the car for the day and you'll be able to tell if it's the car for you or not!

Thanks Aquill, No disrespect to the car at all!!, I am in my late forties now and god awful body kits are not for me, I just wanted something to add to the nice lines of the car. I still like stylish looking cars and I think this one fits the bill. When the guy first pulled up in my driveway I was like MAN this car has a little class ( not meaning LITTLE, but, well it's just a term I use) When he called and said he had a jag for me to consider I thought it was the s-type, I had never seen the x.
I want classy rims and I would stay in the 18" range, I do like chrome on white cars though, seems to give the car that extra gleem. I kinda fell in love with these wheels,

although the say for a s-type. Would they fit?
My wife and kids loved the car too. I have recently sold a 911 porsche too, it was time to downsize and now with the possibility of trading the SL for the jag I Kinda think that I am moving up in the world LOL,LOL. Heck the car is eleven years newer than the sl, has more pep, beautiful color combo and has half the miles that my car has now, certainly seems to be all upside at this point.
I have never owned a jag so bear with me as I learn more about them.

Well sounds like you are well on your way now. Good to know how you really feel about the car sounded like you wanted to rice it out but thats evident that is not your intention. This is a direct link to jaguarxp for the body kit...kind of pricey but looks good.

Oh yeah I've seen those rims before but I just couldn't imagine cleaning those rims considering they are chrome!
Here's a link to a guy on cardomain who has the ground effect kit and rims on his car. Personally I don't like the body kit on these cars if they aren't sport models that don't have chrome. It kind of looks funny to me but maybe its just me.

Here are pics of the body kit that I think is the only one you can get for the car except custom built....

That X looks sweet Aquill. I agree with RUN about the chrome wheels on white car. What year was the Porsche RunD? I'm looking for an 01 or 02 Carrera, and I completely love the car, and I'd love to keep it until I have kids, which then a 2 seater would prove to be problem!
