No power to fuel pump
Hi, - Jaguar x type estate 2009, 2.2 diesel
I was running around doing shopping n stuff with no problem, then I came out of the store, fired up the car and she started but struggled to keep going and eventually died after about 5 seconds. This happens over and over so I had to get a tow truck home.
Firstly, There is no fuel supply from the fuel filter.
Second there is no electrical power to the fuel pump under the back seat.
I have checked the fuel Inertia switch and it hadn't triggered.
The fuse is OK and there is 12v power to the fuse.
Anybody any suggestions as to why there is no electrical power to the fuel pump ?
Thanks
Harry

The diesel x type does not have a fuel pump in the tank, the main high pressure fuel pump has a built in lift pump built in.
There could be various reasons for the run issue, has any work been done recently that could have caused this ?
You need to read the trouble codes with a diagnostic scanner.
Paul.

Well the chap came with his computer but no faults were found. then while he was checking various things he turned the key and it burst into life. No reason was found.
So everything was fine then a couple of weeks later the same thing happened, everything was working fine then I jumped in the car, turned her on and she felt like she was running on 3 cylinders then died, the same thing over and over. So the chap came with his computer again and no faults were found again. Then all of a sudden she bursts into life again. The mechanic thinks maybe a blocked fuel filter, a new one is on its way.
