Nox, if you really feel like you need something like this, go to your local auto parts store and find a product called "CD2". It is high strength oil detergent and it will do the same thing that they want to do. All you do is about 50 miles (or less) before your oil change, you add this bottle to the engine and do some driving. This will move all the garbage that might be in the engine to the oil filter and since you are pulling it out shortly thereafter, all is good.
Will you see miracles from this product, probably not. Most of the time when I see something from this product, it is from an engine that has not been well taken care of (ie, sat for a year and there are noisy valves). But, for an every day driver, most oils made these days will not result in sludge build up. If you are curious, simply remove the oil cap and using a flashlight, look down the oil fill hole. I bet you will see very clean metal with a nice layer of clear oil on things. If you are seeing "pudding" in there, then odds are, the CD2 product would benefit you.

High mileage oil filter? Can't say I ever heard of that. Personly, my opinion is use a name brand of filter and call it a day. Same with the oil. Don't over think it. A bunch of threads on her about the right oil and the answer is always the same: use the right viscosity, change it regularly and you will be good. I have never seen a thread on here talking aboutan oil/filter related failure.

4,000 mile oil changes disappeared decades ago. Waste of time and money.

Your squeal on start up would not be from engine oil. If you had a sound at start up because of engine oil it would be because you didn't have any and the sound would be catastrophic grinding metal sounds. Top off your power steering reservoir with a correct fluid and if that doesn't fix your problem you probably need a new power steering pump. Not unusual on a car with 140K I would think.
