Exclamation Oil Pump

I Love my 2002 Black Cat. But i have a major problem. She has 144700 miles on her and I have had her for a month and and half, I only got to drive her for three weeks. Cruising on the interstate around 88mph, she started making a sound like she was falling apart, engine lite was on and she started slowing down. I got off of the interstate and she quit on me. When the clanking screeching noise started the oil light started going on and off. There was no oil under the car and no smoke from the engine. The temp gage showed normal. The previous owner used synthetic oil. The manual says not to use this type of oil. The dipstick showed low oil, so I added 2 quarts of oil. This got the car started back up and I got it home. It sat at home for 2 whole days. Depressed because I figured I bought a .lemon. So I drain all of the oil and exactly what it calls for, still clattering. I wash it every day cause its the only one in the county, Looks good sitting in the driveway. lol Anyway I started it last night when we were cooking out and the sound now comes from the top instead of the bottom. I am hoping I have a bad oil pump. Any Ideals would be greatly appreciated. I am open foe any suggestions. Dan the Jag man

You need to do a search for "replace oil pan gasket" or "drill a hole in transfer case to access oil pan bolt".

The pan can be removed without pulling the engine but I think the DAMAGE IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm curious what does the oil pan gasket or drilling a hole have to do with the engine making the noise?

You asked if you could change the pump without removing the engine.

So I posted how to remove the oil pan without removing the engine.
