searching but found nothing so far..............the pipe has 3 hoses connecting to it.....upper rad. hose, coolant tank and what looks to be a heater hose.....

the pipe tree is in great shape, but found this "what i hope to be" the last leaking issue to deal with as i have replaced all the cooling systen components.

i would like to know if the rubber seal is an "o-ring" or another special ring, and where i can find it.

thx
-mike

dwclapp, could this o-ring cause an intermittent coolant leak down that end of the engine that drips onto the Bank 2 exhaust pipe? I'm chasing slight coolant loss and recently noticed a small amount on garage floor below that section of the engine. I took off the right front wheel and access plate for serpentine belt tensioner, then ran engine. Couldn't see anything leaking, but this hose/pipe junction is suspect. Thanks for the pictures.

swing: This coolant leak is difficult to find, but easy to fix. So the "lazy man's" remedy is replace this suspect o-ring, hope your leak stops, and if it doesn't, replace the next easiest, suspect part.

The o-ring I replaced cost only $2 at a hardware store, or $7 for the official Jaguar part C2S22458 on eBay, and takes only ~30 minutes to replace if you're cautious the first time, ~10 minutes with experience.

So my 2 cents: replace this suspect o-ring, declare victory if the leak stops, or keep searching if the leak continues. The coolant splitter housing (see pictures) has 2 more o-rings you might check, but I didn't replace those because other forum members point to problems with the suspect o-ring, and the leak stopped when I replaced it.

Thank you, those pictures and advice much appreciated. Speaking of pictures, I've not seen the .png suffix before. How is that different from .jpg? Newer camera perhaps?

swing: The jpg's are from my iPhone while working on my 2002 X-Type.

The png's are screen grabs from this eBay post: 2007 Jaguar Xtype 3.0L Coolant Pipe Tube Sensor With Tee OEM (Part# 1X4E-8548EA) | eBay

Both picture formats are very common.
