Piece attaching to hood latch
Hello,
I recently had a new nose put on my 03 x-type (unfortunate accident on my part). The rebuild is done, however the part that attaches to the main hood latch (looks like it mounts under the latch, above the radiator, and looks like a air scoop?). I don't know what it's used for or if it's really necessary. My mechanic isn't sure either.
Could someone explain what exactly it's used for?

That part is important, it directs air directly into the air box. X Types are already pretty restricted as to the amount of fresh air they get, that take fresh air from in front of the rad into the air box
