Default Premium Sound Question

I have an 02 Xtype with the ten speaker setup & pre wired for voice. (4) front & (4) rear plus the two subwoofer in rear shelf. But I noticed when I pulled the carpet in the rear vicinity of the CD Changer, there is no amplifier. So I bought online an OEM amplifier. Planning to do this altogether with the nav retrofit because I have to get the correct Fiber Optic Lead.

Since I got the premium speaker setup, do you think the cable setup (aside from the D2B link) for the amplifier is there already?

Or do you think I will be needing another set of harness wiring connected to the amplifier & goes to the dash?

What type of wiring I should be looking for?

Attached are pics of the wiring near the CD Changer.

The '02 had a completely different system to the '04 and later cars, like what I retrofitted into my '05 https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ade-faq-64614/

Have a read through that thread, you can see the amp connections and the wiring harness that had to be made.

From your pics, you've got a phone connector there wrapped in foam.

But TBH I'm not sure what that white plug is, it's not from the later model amp for sure...

There are a few threads on here where people have opened up the subwoofer enclosure, replaced the single speaker (yes there is only one) with a pair of new subs, some have added aftermarket amplifiers.

The wiring is completely different between the early & later systems, so it's not that simple....

The early amp is in the sub box.

got it. i opened the box up & yes there is a small amp. so i guess the next question is can we upgrade that amp with the 2005 up model. the harness looks like it will plug into the new amp but i'm not sure how to wire the sub speakers from the new amp.

No you can't. The speaker wiring between the early models and the later ones is TOTALLY different!

If you want to add the later amp with D2B then you need to make a completely new wiring harness for the speakers...as explained previously...

prejag looks like we have an identical twin xtype color & interior. except i got the 3.0. so i'm more like your twin brother xtype thingy.

Hope not. But then again I still have warranty & hopefully if it does, I'm still in my warranty! Did the transmission rebuild in warranty. 2 years ago. So far so good.

Hi Rockyf, if you dont decide to upgrade your amp I am looking at retroing prem audio in my 05 & could take that amp off your hands
