Rack & Pinion Question
New to the forum and search has not been successful.
Did the X-Type have a change in the type of Rack and Pinion unit installed in the USA model during the model year 2004? If so what is the difference?
Any help would be appreciated.

There are two different style racks for these cars. Not sure if it relates to it being left or right hand drive or what. I tried getting some inner tie rod ends and found out I got the wrong ones.

SNG Barratt Spares Catalogue lists three racks for the X Type: Servotronic, Standard and one for FWD only. Obviously these are each available in RHD and LHD forms.
The Servotronic is fitted to 2.5 and 3.0 models and is variable ratio and variable assistance proportional to road speed. The FWD version is not Servotronic and is variable ratio only. I can find no information on the Standard version!
There's no indication as to which MYs were fitted with which type!
