Default Radio Heated Rear Screen

Guys

X Type 2.2 Diesel 2007

Don’t know if this is know problem when using my radio the reception is fine but when I turn on my heated rear screen its very poor it does not mater what radio station or band I can only guess its because the antenna and heated screen use the same element?

I know in the grand scheme of thing it’s a small irritation as for 10 mins I can use the CD Player or whistle.

Just wondered is there a fix or do I have to just put up with it?

As well as checking the obvious connections at the rear screen and the head unit, there is also an antenna module that might be faulty. In the saloon it's behind the C pillar trim on the left hand side and in the sportbrake/estate it's behind the roof lining, on the centre line.

Incidentally, if you look closely at the layout of the heater elements and the aerial on the rear screen, near the centre stop light, you'll see that they are actually separate from each other.

If Eurojags can provide a used, but guaranteed one cheaply enough, it would be worth a try? Not many reports of them failing. I would think there's some arrangement of capacitors in them to act as interference suppressors, and there may be an amplifier of some description.
