Turn to the third notch on the headlight dial and pull the knob directly out. I just figured it out a week ago lol

Disco, two things that weren't mentioned is you can put your headlight switch in either the II (parking lights only) or III (headlights) positions and there is also two positions that you can pull the switch out in. The first position turns on the front fog lights. If you pull it out to the second position, your front and rear fog lights are on. If you look on the dash, you will see some lights come on (green) that show a light bulb with the rays pointing down. One is facing left, one is facing right. The one to the left is the front fogs, the one facing right is the rear fogs.

If you are wondering what the rear fogs look like, look in the bottom inside corner of your tail lights. That is where the rear fogs are located. Normally you have 2 ovals one on top of the other, with the rear fogs on, you end up with 3 ovals on with the bottom one being brighter than the top two.

I dont think people really know how to turn their fog lights on.. All of the X's I see never have them on.. And one day someone asked me how I get my fogs on because they dont work in their car.. I showed them and they were shocked that they never tried to pull out the switch and turn them on..

I know what you mean. When I first got my car and was reading the manual it didn't seem to make sense, but once you understand it, it's easy. You have to have it turned to at least the first position before it will pull out. Kind of an interesting solution.

Thank goodness my used car came with the manual, or I'd have been asking this "dumb question" too.

mercedes has has that type of foggie switch since the 80's.
I thought it was cool when I learned how it worked 25 years ago... When I got the Jag, I thought, wow, they really worked hard to steal good ideas LOL...

I DO have the manual, its just that i didn't want o sit ont he side of the road, holding up traffic behind me, to figure out a simple little feature. plus, it was so much more easier to just post it

You shouldn't use them all the time because they can be deceptive to other road users; they can look like brake lights. In fact, in the UK it is illegal to use fog lights (both front or rear) when the are not necessary. Before I moved to the US, I remember getting a $50 fine for using my front fogs during clear conditions.

I've also noticed that fog lights are uncommon in the US............I thought that very strange.
