Hey crew, rear brake lights (all, left, right and center) not working. Fuse #51 is good, J-Gate lock works when brake pedal is pushed. No codes, car runs fine, no warning (ABS/Anti-Skid) lights on. I figured if the brake pedal switch was bad the J-Gate lock would not work either. Thoughts?
Quick edit, all other rear lights are fine as well as the marker lights.
I think you are right about the J-Gate lock, if it is working the ECU must be getting the right signal from the brake pedal switch. The wiring diagram shows different grounds for the 3 brake lights so I would say the problem must be between the brake pedal switch and the 3 way splitter where power goes off to the lights. That wire must run down the tunnel under the tread plates. Probably splits under the rear seat??
Thanks very much for that quick reply. I'm not a very good "wire chaser" and my physical abilities are getting slim as well. I'm going to get some "young", my son-in-law, eyes and hands to take the switch out first and give it a continuity check, I believe it has different contactors inside. If it checks out ok, then I'll just take it (the car) in.
