Brake lights constantly on!
Hello, all! Today I noticed that my brake lights were on when the car was just idling... no lights on at all, no one stepping on the brake. My first guess is a sticky or broken brake light switch at the pedal, but thought I would ask what folks commonly see here and possibly shorten up my diagnostic time! This is a non-ABS car.
Thanks to all!

Yep, that will be it.
Easy to get to , NOT.
I did it many years ago, and could not get near that thing now.
Someone flexible to worm in there wold be a smart suggestion
Might respond to a simple spray of WD40 or similar, fingers crossed.

Yes, the switch!
Move the seat back as far it will go, recline it as much as possible, put a blanket over it, bum backwards on seat, swing feet over the headrest, head under the dash, you're good to go!
Good luck
Paul

Oh, my poor back! I really do spend extra time planning what else I might be able to do when I have to get down for something (like the joke).... If no one hears from me regarding this brake switch issue in the next few days, please call 911 for me! I'll leave the garage door open so they can get to me!
Hello all! Had a good experience (well, not my back) with the brake light switch. Managed to put all the pieces back together and the lights are working properly! The backing plate seems stripped, so I might end up back under there at some point if things come out of adjustment. Now that I have fooled with it once, it will not be a big deal. Did have to call up a "reserve of patience" trying to wrestle the switch, backing plate and bolt simultaneously. I am guessing Grant will call this a "probable lack of appropriate hydration" on the part of the mechanic... I will not make that mistake again!
