If yes, you just proved that the switch is bad. Replace. If not, then some more troubleshooting will be required. It could be an issue between the fuse box and the switch or with the wiring between the switch and the rear of the car. This is where checking for 12 VDC on the paperclip will tell you which end of the car you are looking at having to troubleshoot. If you find 12 VDC on the paperclip, then the problem is in the rear of the car. No 12 VDC, it is between the connector and the engine bay fuse box. If you need to narrow things down more than that, let me know and I will tell you what needs to happen.
hi guys

i am fairly new to this forum and i have been reading the thread my reverse lights work and when i put the car in reverse there is a clicking noise coming from all 4 sensors but it just doesnt work, Not when i turn the ignition on or if i put it in reverse its just dead no beeps nothing i checked the fuse (F79 on the passenger side fuse box ) this indicates both the reversing switch and the fuse is fine ps i just did the heads on my car could the mechanic not have connected somthing back after he stripped the heads to do a overhaul

i really am lost i think somthing maybe gone on the module in the boot any info would be appreciated

Kind regards
Justin

Justin, sounds like the speaker under the rear shelf for this system is probably blown and not going to emit any sound. I would start there.

Hi everyone, I didn't see if this question was answered but I have recently got an x type 2007 and noticed that the parking sensors aren’t working. Ive gone around the car listening to ‘chirping’ from the sensors and I have 2 located on the front that are not working. So my question is if that I have 2 front sensors not working does that mean that the rear sensors wont work either? Or does it not affect the rears sensors and there is another issue?
cheers in advance

Loss of the fronts can take out the whole system. So, replace the front sensors and then see what you have at that point.

I would like to thank Thermo and Dell for all their advice in general. I have been putting off looking for the fix for my backup sensors, but this post makes it easy.

Regards,
Ron
