Default Rear view mirror location

My rear view mirror creates a blind spot for me. I need to bob my head at intersections to see if there is a car waiting to enter from the right.
Is there some way to remount the mirror a few inches higher on my windshield?
Thanks,
P.

Do you have a standard or auto-dimming mirror?

A standard, any auto glass shop can fix you right up.

Standard, flip for dimming at night. I will try my local glass shop, that would certainly be as easy a fix as I could hope for. I can't tell how my mirror is anchored to the glass and experience tells me not to cold chisel it off to find out.
Thanks,
P.

No, rats, Fastglass asked me if I had the black matrix in the glass at the mounting point, I do, and they said they can't move the mirror. The mounting bracket is bonded to the windshield, they need heat to get it off and the black matrix makes it likely to crack the glass.
Or so they said. I think they are the only auto glass shop in town.

I got a "real" mechanic who pushed the mirror up harder than I was willing to try. The ball socket end on the mount does move, so we could raise the mirror higher and father out of my range of sight.
I don't like pushing plastic parts harder when they don't move easily, after years of breaking stuff.

I bet it took that "real" mechanic years of training and thousands of dollars in schooling to learn that technique. Glad you got it fixed so easily

The issue with the black matrix is that there is a ring actually mounted IN the glass on that windshield, the mount goes inside of that.

I need it and don't have it...
