TOday I have new brakes all around. I did a super meticulous job of cleaning, painting, lubricating, never-siezing everything and every screw.
I used red stuff pads, and the cheap Canadian cross drilled rotors. I picked up the rotors a few weeks ago so I had time to prime and piant the centre hubs and edges on them too.

Everything is so far way way way way better. the shake is gone the pedal effort is much less and I am pleased. Need to drive for a few hundred km to get past the break in . I hope they get even better.

Also I did new rear suspension links, and front ball joints, and sway bar bushings, headlight washer pump, serpentine belt, and an oil change.

I think I need new front shocks in the spring, and still need to getone of thepower seat motors.

 

was not so bad.. It took me less than 2 hours per corner to do the whole thing.Including the serpentine belt and oil change i was just under 8 hours of work. THis is fanatical DIY pace.. every bolt wire brushed and nothing bolted back on rusty or dirty.
I stopped for a sandwich at lunch and had to stop in the afternoon to look up the routing of that aux belt on the computer.

OverallI was pleased on how the work went.. I think that the dealer would have charged several more hours. I spoke with a Jag technician about the control arms.. the manual says you need to drop the front subframe and use a special tool. He said they never do that it takes too long. I just losened the rear mounting bold and the subframe lowered it until i could get the rear bolt out. It went in easily.

 

I did the rear sway bar bushings. they were way too expensive for a teeny piece of rubber, but dealer said that was contributing to rear noises... I sprayed the screws with penetrant for an hour.. they came right out.. easy to change.. 10 minute job if all goes well.

Day two on the redstuff pads is fantastic.. they really bite better than the old pads. It is hard to brake gently.. I love it...there is some sorta slight groaning noise.. like they are braking so hard the front snow tires are being pressed onto the pavement. that may also be the break in coating ...
