Default Rim damage

Brought car in to have tires changed. Garage told me they couldn't do it because their machine was scraping the outside of wheel causing significant damage. I have the Sport/Premium x type with 18" wheels. Anyone else have this problem? Wondering where to take it, maybe ford dealership? I wondered why 3 of my wheels are all gouged and scraped. Apparently other garages in the past have done the same thing to it without mentioning it to me or previous owner. Any idea what tire changing machine will do the job without further damage to wheels? I have an 05 X-Type.

Not sure what the issue could be, but I would not think something like that would even be an issue. I had the 18" Arubas on my car and never had a problem like that. Nothing really unusual about the OEM wheels in either size or width. Maybe the garage has a really old machine.

You should be able to take it to any place that sells tires and they should be able to mount them. Kind of sounds like maybe you have the tires and wanted your garage to fit them? Maybe bringing in your own would be an issue at a place that sells tires, but I would think you should not have a problem finding a place. There are a ton of cars today that have 19", 20" or larger wheels.

They must have an old machine. It's a small business and been around for years. They put quite a scrape in it.

Geezus! I would be pissed if that happened to me, especially if the wheel was in good shape. I would have thought they would have known that befo9re ripping up the wheel.

Just curious, what did they say when they did that? Did they offer to have the wheel repaired?
