Hello all, I recently replaced the battery in my 03 x-type. A coouple days later I was getting a grinding sort of sound when starting. Shortly after it began to grind and rattle while starting & became near impossible to crank. After some digging I found the little mesh net ground sparking while turning the key.Then noticed the starter was shredded. the bolt holes,the front & top. Does anyone know What would cause that before I put this new starter on and am faced with the same thing.

 

konshu, do you have a picture of what you are talking about. It is hard to visualize what you are saying. It almost sounds like the electric motor came unbolted from the base, leading to what you are seeing. But ,a picture would help prove this thought.
