hi,

car: 2002jaguar x-type 3.0L auto

1.) I just noticed that i can move my shifter off from park(to reverse drive etc)eventhough the key is not in the ignition. i'm just wondering if this isnormal.

2.) just recently my mechanic changed my lower and upper seal from the intake manifold because the car was giving (bank 1 and bank 2 too lean code) but they were missing one seal for the lower portion so they ended up using the old one. I'm just wondering if this is adviseable?

3.) Other thing after my mechanic finished working on the car i noticed that the windows wont automatically go up anymore, but would go down automatically just fine. I'm wondering how do i fix this?

Have you tried the switches on each door. Mine does the same thing periodically from the master switches on the drivers door, but each door switch works fine. Right now both driverside windows work up and down by one touch, but on the passenger side front you have to hold switch to open and one touch will close, rear door have to hold switch to open and close. Last year when we bought the car all worked fine, then none of the worked. Then one day they all started woking again, now it's like stated above. One of these days I'll pull the drivers door panel and take a look at the switches

Btw mine is a 2003 2.5 BRG Auto.

 

window switches sometimes need to be re-set when the battery is disconnected.
on my cts you put it up to the top hold it then put it all the way down and hold it i think.

 

Here's the fix to reset the one touch windows if your battery was disconnected. I never used the reset in hours/couple days they'd reset themselves and work just fine. LINK

I got the windows working properly again also my sunroof back button is working...does anyone have an answer to question 1 & 2?

1. Park lock solinoid must be fried...Be glad it didn't stick in the locked postion..which it might soon..better get it replaced.

2. get an IOU to replace the bad/old seal, if it gives you trouble in the future, otherwise don't worry about it.

yes, I called my warranty place and for some reason the Park lock solinoid is not covered. but they said that it should be just fine and a mechanic friend said its okay as well....and it hasn't given me any trouble yet...so i guess i'll just leave that out for now....

 

That is retarded! Yeah there is no reason for the car to stay parked so there's no reason we should cover the part...

 

man i hate those 3rd party warranty place...
