Software to read Airbag codes

Software to read Airbag codes
Hi all,
Ok here’s the plan… I have an airbag problem; the light is on and flashing code 16. I have just brought an OBDII – ELM237 and using ScanXL™ professional.
This software tells me all about my cars data i.e. Water temp, mass air, fuel, etc, I also have 5 dvd’s full of OBD II software.
Without trawling through all the discs and installing ever last program can anybody tell me if there is any software on the market that I could use my ELM237 to read my airbag codes?
Kind regards,

Quick answer ... no.
Long answer ... your hardware (ELM 327) can only ever read/clear the generic engine management (ECM) codes - eg P1234 - and no software will overcome this limitation.
Most helpful answer ... read up on the forum threads dedicated to the merits of all OBDII tools (hardware and software) for a complete understanding and recommendations.

cyberice, since you have the 16 code already, that is all the info that you need. If you need the chart for the airbag codes, let me know. I seem to recall I have a file with all the air bag codes in it (they are all 2 digit codes, so, the ELM or any other OBD reader is not going to help you unless it is specifically designed to read the airbag codes, which is pretty much the factory unit only).

Hi all,
Thanks for your advice. Thermo would you be so kind and forward me any information you have regarding airbag codes please.
What I have found out is ‘B2290 occupant classification system status or fault front passenger side’
I am trying to get the bottom of this problem.
Kind regards,

cyberice, PM me your e-mail address and I will send you both the listings for all the OBD codes and the file I have on the air bag codes. that way, you should have all the info you need. If there is something else that you think you might need (schematics, etc), list those too. You can never have too much info.

Thermo, is your list of airbag codes more extensive than what is listed in JTIS? Does it include Flash Code 16? Is this something you could post for all to use?

Mark, yes, the list that I have is much more involved. The sheet that I have goes into pinpoint electrical checks and how to replace the various parts. On a side note, the code 16 is also associated with the B2290 OBD code and if you go into the instrument cluster, it will show up as 5952 and/or 5959.
I tried to cut and paste the chart into a post, but it is not playing nice. I will see if there is something that I can do to put it into a format that will work here.

Hi there,
Firstly thanks Thermo for the Jaguar manual,
I am tried to get to the bottom of my B2290 code 16 airbag problem. I have attached a photo of the underneath my passenger seat. To me it looks like a rats nest of wires… all of the plugs seem to be connected except one? Should this be?
Thermo, which plug is attached to the pressure mat? And what do all the rest of the plugs do?
Kind regards

Cyberice, the 10 pin plug on the left is your main connector that powers the seat. The 4 2 pin plugs are what feed power to each of the motors in the seat (the up/down motor, the front/back motor, the tilt motor, etc).
I am not sure where the passenger seat pressure sensor ties in. It should be a 3 wire plug with a red wire, a white wire, and a blue wire. Odds are, this plug is going to be over near the seat belt tie down.
