Default Strange Spark Plug Problems

I am changing the spark plugs on my '03 2.5L.

First, I have to use an extension (pipe) on a ratchet to get enough torque to break the old ones loose. Not good but it is what it is.

Second, the center electrodes on the Champions I am removing are worn to tiny needle points. Any ideas why?

Third, on the front right cylinder, I can't get the coil back back on!!! I put the pug in and removed it and reinstalled it. The top of the plug is ~1 3/8" down the tube, the same as the adjacent plug. I measured each three times. They are the same. The coil pack will easily fit on the plug when it is loose, but if I install it in the tube (~1 3/8" down, same as the others) the coil pack is up about 3/4" no matter how hard I push it down. Any ideas why?

no...... but is it the same coil pack that came off that cylinder. The rubber could have molded slightly to the actual cylinder it came off causing it not to fit properly.... GL

Yup, same coil pack. By the way, the plugs I am installing are E3's. They are correct for the car. They are the same length as the ones I am removing.

I'm willing to bet that those were iridium plugs. They come that way as the center electrode is made of harder material thus don't need as much and last longer.

Bill;

I am a little late coming to this thread so I hope you resolved the issues with installing the new plugs.

I am interested in your feedack with the E3's, anyones in fact - I hear and see a lot of information yet remain on the fence.
