when purchasing you get to choose memory amount, i read for best results use a minimum of 6gb / 128gb. i went with max which was 12gb / 256gb.
it makes a big difference in price.
there are smaller values than 6/128 available so these can be picked up quite cheap if memory is not an issue for you

i upgraded my speakers and used dynomat on the doors.
i upgraded the speakers before installing this and they sounded pretty crappy with the stock head unit considering the quality of the woofers and crossovers i installed. they now sound magnificent... seriously!

turns out they are actually not a lot cheaper after i looked into it for you, they appear cheaper on aliexpress but those cheaper looking prices generally include $200+ just for shipping, tariffs and taxes, bringing the total to around the $800 range, which is what i paid for the highest memory option.
i think i found the lowest price available on my unit which i didnt realize until i looked for you
also some come
with older versions of android which "i read" are not as good as the current version, likely easy enough to upgrade if ya know how.
also there is an option to add 360 degree cameras which can add another $100-150.
all in all not a cheap upgrade, but at least it is quite do-able for those without a lot of mechanical experience.
there is still a lot to be said for the original system with its ease of use and lack of menus.
an internet search for jaguar x type android should bring results, just dont be fooled by what looks like prices under $500, coz further investigation will bring that price to $800 ish.

the S type and XJ units appear the same but they are not and are often cheaper
