The Transmax import multi-vehicle is a JASO-1 fluid, so by definition it is semi-synthetic.

That's what I use.

The ATF spec called for is Idemitsu K17 (Jatco 3100 PL085), so look for that when you're shopping. For the last 19 years I have used AMSOIL fluids in all my cars. I recently acquired a 2004 3.0 AWD with 105k miles, and one of the first things I did was change the ATF. I did the drain/refill three times as others have recommended, and the transmission operates much smoother. This Signature Series fluid meets the Idemitsu spec. Once you locate the drain plug underneath and fill port topside (I recommend removing the battery) it's pretty easy, especially the second and third times. It's not necessary to raise the car but you can if you want. I did not bother with Jaguar's method of checking fluid level; I simply refilled with 3.5 quarts after each drain. The Castrol Multi meets the specs for the JATCO JF506E. It is readily available and affordably priced. The JATCO is a Japanese gearbox (Japanese Automatic Transmission Company) and the Castrol Multi is labeled for 'most Japanese transmissions'.

The AMSOIL sounds like a good one to use but might be a little harder to find???

I replace the fluid in more VW 09A gearboxes than X-Type Jaguars but I also work on a LOT more VW's than Jaguars just because of the volume of VWs on the road. (yes the VW 09A is a JATCO JF506E)

VW sells their own brand of fluid for the 09A but it is near $20/Liter.

I know folks here use a couple different kinds of fluids, but this is the only fluid I could find that is fully synthetic and specifically included JATCO transmissions on the label.
Red Line Synthetic Oil - Automatic Transmission Fluids - D4 ATF

Used it for a 14 hour endurance race with no issues.
