Hello everyone I hava a question regarding the transfer case inner seal. Here is the deal, the transfer case of my daugthers car has to be replaced, I found a used one to replace the Broke one, I have to used the original half shafts, I red on the forum that when you remove the half shafts, the inner seal of te transfer case could get damaged, my question is, if the used transfer that I'm buying will come with the seal damaged? How do I know if it is damaged? Can it be replaced?.
I assume the seal goes between the transfer case and the transmission, so since they will have to be separated anyways, replacing the seal has to be done anyways?

The seal won't be damaged unless you remove the intermediate shaft along with the half shaft. I posted about this a few months ago. I'll go look for it and link back to it. You have to separate the half shaft from the intermediate shaft.

The circlip that holds the half shaft up inside the intermediate shaft will get destroyed when you do the separation and you will need to replace it before you pop the halfshaft back into the intermediate shaft in the new transfer case.
