Default Trouble while installing used transmission

Does anything special need to happen when reinstalling a used transmission? Right now I'm putting a used one in mine and we can crank the engine by hand with a large bar but once we put two bolts into the torque converter we can't crank it anymore to put the other two bolts in. We made sure to seat the torque converter nice and deep before installing the transmission, could it have come loose?

I suppose we might need to take the tranny back out and check it over but any ideas would be awesome!

blaydes, sounds like to me that the bolts for the torque converter are too long and they are catching on something internally. But, without seeing it, I am taking a wild stab in the dark.

Thanks Thermo, I'll definitely check that tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn when we get back to work on it.

Got this working. We took the two flywheel bolts back out and saw that the torque converter was spinning freely, so we took the starter back off and that fixed the problem! After that it was super easy to get all four flywheel bolts into the torque converter (and everything was spinning freely at that point).
