My 02 has a trunk mounted CD changer that is broken and not worth fixing. I am thinking about buying a used dash CD player on Ebay. Can I remove the radio/cassette/CD control bottom portion and have the new one work OK? Are any other parts necessary?

Do you have the factory navigation system? The radio in your e-bay link is a non nav unit. If you do not have nav that radio would be plug and play. If you have nav that radio wont work. Also judging by the picture that radio is a later model and the color wont be an exact match for your '02 X-type but it would function normally.

 

Thanks for the reply. I don't have factory navigation. Also do you think my steering wheel controls will still work and will I need a factory code to make the radio work.

Yes the steering wheel controls will function normally.

I couldn't be certain from that picture whether it was correct or not. The first one you posted was easy to tell it was the later model.

You can easily see the difference between these 2. The early one is solid black, the later one is like a matte dark grey. Either will install and function just fine it will just be a color problem.
