Default US 2002 trunk latch assembly

Found out today that the 2002’s sedan models have to different trunk latch assemblies for the same year. Both however will work in place of each other if anyone ever needs to change theirs. Mine wouldn’t reset after opening so that it would latch when closed without hitting the switch button many more times. Tried oiling it and everything to no avail. Swap from parts car also 2002 and they were totally looking different but however direct fit

parts car one is on the left

Thank you Dell for all of the extra information on the latches. Good information for someone that may be looking to replace theirs

Mine had the black one on the right and it was only held in place by 2 screws. But the mounting plate on trunk lid already had the 3 holes drilled which lined up with the 3 bolt holes that the parts car latch the one on the left. I had to make no adjustments or had to make any mods to install it. One notable difference tho was the plastic cover that covered the latch. On the car with the black latch the inside pull handle came out thru the carpet toward the left of the latch and the other latch the pull handle came out the back of the plastic cover. So one cover has no hole and one had a square hole. Bolt holes for the covers however were in the same spots
