Default WARNING: Auto Trans Fluid change

Today, I've flushed my tranny three times. First time, I followed JTIS spec, as I didn't know what to expect. Here's what JTIS says:

Lower the vehicle.

Remove the automatic transmission fluid charging pipe cap.

Use automatic transmission fluid WSS-M2C922-A1 or equivalent meeting Jaguar specification.

Fill the automatic transmission with 8 litres of automatic transmission fluid through the automatic transmission fluid charging pipe.

Carry out a fluid level check and adjustment.

So I did.

Added 8 litres of fluid after the drain, ran through the gears until at operating temp, then did fluid check.

It spilled out about 4 and a half litres.

So actually, what you can drain with the drain plug is about 3 and a half litres, the rest stays in the cooler and torque converter.

Next time, I added only 4litres, so that I could drain half a litre via the drain plug, just to know fluid was high enough.

Just makes me sorry I threw 4 litres in the trash bin the first time, following JTIS spec.

Hope this helps someone!

8 litres is the dry fill not the drain and fill.

Thanks for confirming my thought...
But JTIS says this on the "draining and refill" page...
Just a typo I guess, but wanted to make sure everyone knows.

It just goes along with what I've always said. The JTIS is just one of many reference materials for Jaguar repair. Hands on experience and access to all the available materials makes the difference.
