Water pump question please help me

Stun, there are no wires and whatnot in the area of the waterpump that would prevent the car from starting due to water leaking on them. So, unfortunately, you are looking at 2 different issues.
Now, not to scare you, but did you run into an overheating issue? It is possible that if you overheated the engine too bad, you could have hurt the heads/head gaskets and now you have low compression in a few cylinders and that is causing you issues.
I guess more information would be needed for something like this before a better diagnosis could be made. Since you will be pulling the battery to do the water pump, that will give you a chance to do a good look there and see if anything is damaged. About the only wire bundle that I could think of running in that area would be the one for the fan controller. But, even that I think is more towards the outside of the car.
