Default What is this?

Hello again, does anybody know what this sealant is called or made from or where I can get some? Ive hacked away at mine to access the subframe bolt retaining nut that sheared and want to re seal the hole now. If I cant find what it is I'm thinking of just using basic body work filler if anybody knows or can help.

It is a sound deadening mat. You could inquire of SNG Barratt as they do carry some sound deadening materials. If not google search and there many after market products available.

Its like a plastic seal, hard but brittle almost like treacle toffee that's kind of moulded to the floor, I had to chip it away with a screwdriver to shift it first to access the sub frame nut and bolt. My thoughts are ill probably never go in there again to be honest but should I just seal it up with a bit of Isopon p40 etc..

I haven't licked it btw ;-)

Just a tar/glue underlay with a stiffer outer layer to make it easier to apply, all for sound deadening. Any car stereo/alarm installer will have some, or you can buy it retail. Search for sound deadening mat, sound insulating mat, etc. The problem with retail is they want to sell you several square feet at a time. One good but expensive one here in the US is Dynamat.

In my opinion if you go to a hardware store and buy "window flashing tape" or "flex seal tape" or "aluminum roof repair tape" you will get a product that is at least 99.99% as good as an engineered sound deadening tape for a fraction of the price.
