Angry What a way to end the week, car started to smoke...FML

So car overheated today, pulled over right away..and noticed NO water pump belt..WTF

After gettin the car towed home i took off the battery box and battery..well not only is the belt gone,i think the pulley on the tensioner broke off somehow too!? Im not too sure as it was getting dark and i was super frustrated, ill try and take a picture tommarrow for you guys but im pretty sure the tensioner needs to be replaced as well...

Dealership isnt open on the weekend, and i couldnt find any local auto parts stores that carried the belt (let alone the tensioner)

Any idea how much im going to be looking at...it doesnt seem like that big of a job to replace....

Thank you for reminding me of one of the most important "Rules of the Road":

Replace your belt BEFORE it's shot, and carry the used one in the trunk as a spare!

I am ordering a new belt right now!

(I am sure I can speak for all in the forum when I wish you the best on the overheating, and hope it caused no harm. Also, I hope you didn't have to tow it too fast or too far)

i have seen that happen a couple time where the belt tensioner pully siezes up or breaks off and then you loose the belt and it overheats. it is fairly simple to replace. and not to expensive. might even be able to find a ford equivelant part off the 3.0l escape motor.

just have to pull out that battery and battery box and it is right there to unbolt the tensioner from the head.

if it overheated you may also want to do check the head gasket for leaks or have a shop do it. there is tool that you hook up to the coolant bottle and it detects if exhaust gases are bypassing your head gasket into the coolant.
This usually happens on extreme overheat conditions but wont hurt to check.
