Default Where do you place your Jack stands ?

Finding a good jack point on my Ford truck is easy ... on the Jag not so much. Where are you guys placing your jack stands when rotating tires or simply working on your X's ?

myexcursion, when I place my jackstands, I tend to place them inside of the tires. In the case of the front end, if you look, there is a metal plate that links the body with the front frame assembly. I will put my jack just behind that point and lift the car from there and then place the jackstand on the plate. For the rear, I place the jack on the lift pad and then I will place the jackstand on the body support that runs just inside the jack mount.

When rotating the tires, I found that it is easiest to simply break the lugnuts loose on one side of the car and then you place the jack under the front door. Then when you jack up the side of the car, both wheels will come off the ground. From there, you can spin off 1 wheel, roll it to the other end and then remove that tire and you can figure the rest out from there.

Thanks - I always feel like the jack is going to go through the floor whenever I have to lift it. Wish it was a little more exposed like my truck - you can see the entire frame rail on both sides from one end to the other

myexcursion, I hear you. I love the frame on my expedition. Granted, having it lifted and sitting on 37's, there is not much more need for use of jackstands unless I am working on the suspension. I know my Expedition has jack stand points galore all based on where you think you may need some more support.

From the Workshop Manual:

1. LIFTING POINTS

2. SUPPORT POINTS
