I have a 2002 X type, I got 20' Enkei LS5 from a friend, the tires on there are 245/35/20. I also just wheel adapters because of the bolt pattern(bought from a rim shop and dont know mm) but the tires will not fit! it rubs the bumper as soon as you turn it, i went to 2 different tire shops and they said they cannot find smaller tires. and if i did i would screw things up on my car, also the rims. is that true?

Someone please help me, what should i do? how to get tires or do something with the adapters? please help!

Talking about mismatching oem wheel brands, I just saw an Audi A4 with Bentley wheels on it. I thought it looked clean, something different in my neighborhood at least.
Jeremy has to be one of the only jaguars I've seen that had so many sets of wheels on it, so when he says it'll work or not, believe the guy.

 

General rule of thumb is that if a tire store does not know the metric system, you should only buy pickup truck tires from them and they probably don't have the equipment/skill to mount the appropriate tire (225/30/20 or 235/30/20) to your wheels without scratching them to hell. Your 35 series will not work, they are about an inch too big in diameter and that will make them always hit your front bumper and fender liner - you need 30 series, especially if you have adapters. Do you know the original offset + adapter width? If so, I can tell if fender modifications are needed and to what extent even with the smaller tires.

 

Glad to hear you all are fighting over the faux pas of putting Volvo Rims on a Jaguar. I just bought an X Type and came with an extra set of 4 of these:
17x8" Pegasus Wheel, Bright Silver - ViVA Performance
with almost new snow tires on them. If you think I'm worried about the fashion police for putting them on in winter, you'd be very wrong! :-)

 

Volvo engineers made construction on X-type. Much parts was made for Mondeo in X-type. Many parts stands with ford logo/name and not Jaguar. Think I seen parts it stood volvo on it when stripped my first X-type of parts. Panels in many models was made in same factory as Volva,Saab and plenty more. Rims as you say is no no could been made in same factory Quality from Volvo is good so are you ashamed put part from manufacture that made your car

 

Why are people buy the after market items to replace the OEM? Or they would do MOD to make their cars look to pleas their eyes. Yes if I found a nice KIA wheels that I like, I would replace them with my Rolls Roy. Only thing I would not do if I want My car to be a "Classic Car", which it will never happen.

 

OK ExExPat, I had a set of wheels from 04 Volvo XC70,they're not the best looking wheels, but look better than my 04 X-Type wheels. What size of tires would it fit 17 Volvo wheels to work with my Jag, is there any adaptors needed?

Both cars appear to have a 63.4mm center bore and 5x108 pattern, so they should be a direct replacement. The Volvo offset will be close enough to the FWD offset range of the X-Type, too. You should be fine without any modifications. The only thing you should need are conical seat lug nuts in 12 x 1.5mm and the tires should probably be 225/45/17 - per OEM spec for 17s.

X308 is the wrong bolt pattern. 5x120 and RWD offset. You could do Pegs with adapters.

 

I am looking at installing a set of Volvo Propus wheels (made by BBS) on my wagon the next time it needs tires.

Has anyone done that before?
