I recently bought a window regulator repair Kit for my 2002 X-Type from a supplier I found on Amazon, ECS Smart Car Parts. The parts in the kit seemed to be good quality but when I installed them, I found the cables were about three inches too short. The kit I bought is EWR691 for Jaguar X-Type 1999-2008 for the left front window. I now notice that the supplier offers two kits this model. EWR691 and EWR690 with no explanation about any difference between the two. I now wonder if Jaguar made X-Types with differing window regulators and the two kits offered are to cater for this. Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so how can I be sure to order the correct one?

 

Difference in part numbers is most likely left/right.
Correct Jaguar X Type part numbers years 2002-2008:

Left = C2S51554
Right = C2S51553

 

The two kits offered by ESC are both for left front 1999 - 2008. Do you know if the design of the regulator changed during these years?

 

Well it's pretty self explanatory = there is/was NO 1999-2001 X Type made. That's the first alarm bell. The above part numbers are for the ENTIRE manufacturing runs. So no there was NO design change.
