Angry X type front bumper removal

Does anyone have a good, precise explanation on how to remove the front bumper on an ex type 2003. I have had a go spent 4 hours discovering rusty bolts and fighting an unequal battle with liners.
I even had at my disposal a hydraulic lift and could access underside very easily. The main problem was trying to find out how the outer cover was attached. Please don't tell it is those two size 10 bolts - the ones in an almost impossible place to get at.
Nightmare - all I want to do is get at my headlights and clean them up and replace bulbs.

Ray, if you look at the front edge of the bumper, you will see like 10 star head bolts that you will have to remove. From there, you will need to reach under and there are 2 bolts (10mm) on each side back near the A-arm that will need to be removed. From there, you will need to remove 2 star bolts in each wheel well that joins the bumper cover to the wheel well liner. You can then remove the 3 bolts more in the center of the cover that goes under the radiator. This should allow you to drop the cover down.

At this point, you can undo the four 10mm bolts (2 each side) by the headlights. You have 2 more 10mm nuts that you will need to remove. What you need to do is to reach up behind the bumper cover, up near the side marker light. You will find a bolt and a separate nut up in that area. You need to remove the nut on each side. The nut is more towards where the bumper cover and the fender liner meet in relation to the bolt. Once you get the nuts off, you can grab the bumper cover where it meets the fender liner and pull straight out at you. This will undo the friction clips holding the bumper cover in place. Do this on both sides and the bumper cover should now be ready to drop to the ground.

It may be worthwhile to have some towels or a shop blanket to put on the ground under the bumper cover so you don't scratch the bumper cover paint.

Install is the reverse process. The hardest part of this is going to be those two 10mm nuts that are tucked up by the side marker lights. Once you do them, it will be easier. But, finding them the first time is always a pain.

Thank you sir very much. Will get my trusty size 10 ring spanner out
and let battle commence.
The whole procedure is not one I expected on such a simple job (so I thought)
Many regards
Ray

You do not need to undo the torx bolts along the front edge of the under tray, just the ones at the sides.

I also found a ratchet spanner easier for the bolts inside the wing, one each side.

Don't forget to undo the wiring plug for the fog lights.

Yes don't forget the electrical connector for the foglights and marker lights (if equipped) on the left side of the car, and it's not the nuts on the studs you have to remove up under the fender skirts, it's the 10mm socket head cap screws just a touch forward of the aft most stud that has to come out. Leave all those studs and the forward most socket head cap screw alone.

It is one heck of a lot easier to do if you just completely remove the cover from underneath the radiator like Chris suggested.
