I have a 2001 xtype se found a way of reprogramming key fob but it keeps doing it after few times and its getting annoying any ideas peeps

 

What shape is the remote's battery in?

 

purchased brand new fob for 2001XJR Fob nuber matches one n use as does the FCC number. Battery check out , new one tested in original fob.
Tried the light stalk pull back 5/6 times method in position #1 , access, start Tempted to try suggested the open door foot on ground method {LOL}
Repeated attempts at all the suggested methods on forum have proven fruitless.

Is it time for trip to dealer or-----------?

 

Pulled back on stalk and inserting key in ignition, Turned key to position#1 . Flashed 4 times and got red light on J box. Pushed fob button{s}
No programming .
No red light if similar process tried with key in start mode.

Defective Fob ?

 

Battery's are new changed them first it will only unlock once before it does it again now
