X-Type with manual transmission sometimes Jerks at 3000rpm, and at 1/4 tank

Hello,
I have a 2002 X-type 2.5 with a manual transmission and around 75k miles. Every now and then, maybe once a week or so the yellow light inside the rpm gauge comes on, the mileage display says cruise not available, and i cannot go above 3000rpm in any gear, the car will start to buck back and forth if i try to. Usually after a few minutes it will stop and the car will perform normal.
Also i have noticed now that when I have around a 1/4 tank of gas left and hit a hill, the car will start to jerk back and forth. I then fill it up with fuel and the car is fine.
The check engine light does not come on during this, so i cannot check the codes, Any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks for any response.
Regards,
Ryan

The 03 X-Type I used to have developed the occasional jerk at low fuel levels like yours. The car uses 2 fuel pumps - 1 to supply the engine, and 1 to transfer fuel between the 2 sides of the saddle type fuel tank. I suspect your transfer pump has a problem. On my car, in addition to the jerk problem, my tank fuel level sending unit went bad. The dealer replaced the pump/sending unit assembly under warranty, and, that solved both problems.

The cruise not available light is most likely a leak from the pcv hose and/or the two seals at the back of the engine on the passenger side on the intake manifold. Check the hose at the front of the engine under the jaguar cover
